Commence construction of Sai Gon Bridge

Saigon Bridge is one of five special bridges of the project Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway, Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Section (Line 1). This Project is one of the key projects of the City for development of urban transport in the north-east gateway, connecting HCMC with Bien Hoa -Vung Tau. The project crossing through the Districts such as District 1, Binh Thanh, 2, 9 and Thu Duc of Ho Chi Minh City and Di An District of Binh Duong Province.

Sumitomo – Cienco6 Consortium (SCC) is the General Contractor of Package No.2, Civil Elevated & Depot. The project covers a total of 17.2 km with 11 stations, 5 special bridges and the Depot area at Long Binh Ward, District 9.

Saigon Bridge has the length of 267.5 m and will be constructed by Free Cantilever Method (FCM). This bridge is located towards the upstream with 40m away from the existing Saigon Bridge and has the beginning point at Ward 25, Binh Thanh District and the ending point at Thao Dien Ward, District 2.

 

The construction of Saigon Bridge started in December 2013. This is the first special bridge of Metro Line 1 being constructed.

Up to the present, the temporary works such as temporary bridges, wharf construction are implemented for carrying out the substructure works.
