Currently traveling along of Hanoi Highway through districts 2, 9 and Thu Duc has clearly seen the elevated metro line 1 from Ba Son (District 1) to Suoi Tien (District 9), with 19.7 km in length.

According to the Management Authority for Urban Railways, up to date of January 5^th 2017, the contractor Sumitomo (Japan) - Cienco 6 (VN) consortium executing the package 2 of Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien section, Line 1 has installed  298/361 girder segments of 10.5km / 12km viaduct for two rails of both ways from the city center. At the same time, to speed up construction of five special bridges (Sai Gon, Rach Chiec, Van Thanh and Dien Bien Phu and Ha Noi Highway).

In addition, the contractor has completed the structure of 8 stations including Van Thanh, Thao Dien, Phuoc Long, Rach Chiec, Binh Thai, High -Tech Park, National University and Thu Duc.

Focusing on completion construction of the first floor of remaining stations including An Phu, Tan Cang and Suoi Tien and depot construction (technical maintenance factory and wagons ...). It is expected that the entire metro line 1 will be completed by 2020.
